Matthias Gelber is an international trainer, speaker and business man with experience in 38 countries worldwide. His focus areas have been environmental management and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) over the last 15 years. He was given the Greenest Person on the Planet award in 2008 by 3rdwhale.com and he was recently named one of the Men of the Year by in Malaysia by the Magazine Clive. Matthias started a volunteer movement called Eco Warriors Malaysia which has focused on mobilizing Malaysians to take practical green actions, such as tree planting and recycling. Matthias brought as well the Awakening the Dreamer movement to Malaysia, which looks at how we can live a live that is more connected with sustainable living and social justice.
Matthias is the co founder of Maleki GmbH, and board member of Green Building Products Private Limited and INEM, the International Network of Environmental Management. Maleki GmbH is the global technology leader in low carbon footprint building materials such as waterproofing, self leveling industrial flooring, insulation render and Green Concrete.
Matthias has been working the last few years with the building industry to develop practical strategies for effective environmental and sustainability progress. He is a member of the Green Building Council and the IISBE, which is the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment.

Madam Chang has over 40 years of experience in the field of paint. She is currently the Technical Manager for Star Chemical Manufacturers Pte. Ltd., Singapore (A member of Seamaster Paint Group), in which she has worked for more than three decades. She started as a Senior Chemist in 1974 before being promoted to her current position. She is also the Technical Advisor for Seamaster Paint (Manufacturing) Bhd., Malaysia.
Madam Chang is also working as a committee member to draft and revise SS: 5, appointed by the Technical committee to assist in the preparation of the Singapore Standard: 5- Methods of Test for Paints, Varnishes and Related Materials (SS:5). Furthermore, she is a group member for preparation of the Singapore Standard: SS494: 2001, Lead and Chromate Free Primer for Iron and Steel Substrates. In addition, she is also one of the group members to assist in the preparation guideline on Workplace Safety and Health Technical Advisory on the Safe Use and Handling of Paint – from the Occupational Safety and Health Division, Ministry of Manpower, Singapore.
Prior to Seamaster Paint Group, Madam Chang worked as a Chemist, undertaking the responsibility of formulating and testing of paint in Liberty Paint Pte. Ltd. She holds a Bachelor Degree of Science – Apply Chemistry, 1967. |

Gieto Sugianto, Director (Projects) at Architects 61 Pte Ltd (A61), oversees design in an integrated design team of almost 40 architects and design support staff. Having graduated from University of Aachen Germany in 1986, he practiced in Germany and Indonesia before joining A61 in 1990.
With more than 20 years of architectural design and professional consultancy experience, Gieto Sugianto has overseen a significant number of recognizable projects both in Singapore and in the Region, especially in Indonesia and Vietnam. He has specialized in various building types including projects in education, institutional developments and in commercial mixed use projects as well as residential condominiums.
Gieto Sugianto has been actively involved in the sustainable design
and design development. Numerous project under his leadership have won
several sustainability awards, including the Singapore BCA Green Mark Gold + and Platinum Awards. These include the PA Headquarters, Tampines Grande and Tampines Concourse among others. He has been overseeing the implementation of Design Development and Detailing skills amongst all staff at A61. In particular, he has overseen Design and Design Development on large and award winning projects including The Heeren-mixed development, Newton Gems, Nanyang Junior College, 42 Cairnhill Condominium, Changi Airport Terminal 1 Redevelopment. His interests goes beyond the sustainable and excellent design. He has shown a great interest in the conservation of heritage buildings and won the prestigious URA heritage award for the famous philanthropist conservation house of the late Tan Chin Tuan. Recently he has won several limited design competitions of luxurious and super luxurious residential projects in Singapore, most of which have completed construction. |

Hardeep has spent 15 years working for manufacturers of products used in the construction industry. For the past more than 2 years he has been working for Forbo Flooring Systems and is currently the Country Manager for India. Forbo is the third largest resilient manufacturer in the world and has been the leader in sustainability initiatives for decades.
The current environmental situation has become a matter of concern for all. Being related to this field, he sees one of the solutions to the above is the usage of sustainable building materials during construction. This is an outcome of a design philosophy that focuses on the overall Life Cycle of the product and thereby increases the efficiency of the resource use while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment.
Hardeep has actively participated and has been involved with many programs and seminars conducted by the (IGBC) Indian Green Building Council. He is a graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration from Delhi. |

Harry Verhaar Senior Director Energy & Climate Change
Green Switch Champion - Philips Lighting
Harry Verhaar has over 20 years of experience in the lighting industry, currently being Senior Director Energy & Climate Change at Philips Lighting, heading the global Energy Efficiency program (also called `Green Switch`).
He has in the past five years been the architect of the lighting strategy on energy and climate change, which has resulted in a pro-active industry position on phasing out of old lighting technologies for street-ligthing; office & industry lighting and residential lighting. This program has over the last four years obtained significant global media exposure, and has been included in the EU Climate Change package of March 9th 2007, as well as in the Energy Independence & Security Act in the USA. The Philips call to phase-out incandescent lighting (made in December 2006) has generated global support (by the European Commission; the International Energy Agency, and a growing number of countries and states, i.e. Australia, USA; EU27; Korea etc).
Previously he was responsible for the marketing activities of the professional lamps activities in Europe. Prior to that he has lived for five years in São Paulo Brazil, of which the last two as commercial manager of the professional lighting activities in Latin America. Before that he has held various positions in product marketing management and product and technology development for Philips Lighting in Turnhout, Belgium, and Eindhoven, The Netherlands. |
